Wikimedia Research: FORI Usage

August 10, 2017

The internet contains a wealth of resources that provide high-quality information to the public for free. How do people decide which of these websites to visit when they want to learn something new?

The research involves a survey of undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at the University of Washington during the 2015-16 academic year. Participation in the survey are elicited primarily through UW listservs and social media.

The process is documented at the Wikimedia Foundation site.

Personal contributions:

  • Background research
  • Survey design
  • Survey deployment
  • Data analysis

Research group leaders: Jonathan Morgan, Dr. Mark Zachry.
